I am a complete newbie. The decision to buy the bike was quite impulsive. I took longer than an hour to get home after work for the umpteenth time on a route that should not take more than 15 minutes.

Dis nou klaar.

So I bought the bike.

That, and I want to ride to the Okavango Delta in two years' time on a bike. Bucket list.

So, I think I need all the advice I can get laugh

Moved over from a Chinese 250. What an experience!! I love my bike, and use it as a commuter mostly, but now that I am on the BMW, I just want to ride. Can't stop looking at my bike!!

After 10+ years as a pillion (R1200GSA)) it was time to get my own bike, which I did and she is truly beautiful - Black Beauty! A few side-stand incidents later; BMW Motorrad Refresher and Skills Proficiency & Safety courses under my belt; and, bum-time in the seat with the mileage slowing climbing, gravel and sand do definitely call.... But, being still over-confident and inexperienced, I need to be patient and pay my dues on tar. Spoilt by having previously been a member of the BMWMCCC, I long to return ..... One Day! In the meantime, there are many Gauteng and surrounding roads less travelled and I am having the ride of my life!

Started riding vespa 125 in 1974 then 175 kawa scrambler suzi380gt and moto guzzi850mk1 which i still own but has not been ridden for 10 years due to other sport and children involvment with time constraints, now want to get back in the saddle and try on road/off road experience

Hi All, A few months back I decided to start riding again after not doing so for many years. I decided to go with the 650 gs based on plenty of reccomendations and after riding pillion on one for a few months while at university (even though the exhaust did melt my backpack straps on a few occasions) Its been such a pleasure being back on the road again (I am in absolutely in love with my bike), not to mention the friendly nods and waves from the adventure riders! Sadly my husband does not ride (Yet.....) and my solo rides are getting a bit, well, solo. I hope to meet many more like minded folk and join the club for plenty more riding adventures. Cheers! I ride an F650GS 2006 model with just more than 100 000km on the clock. Bought her in May 2011 with 54000 so that means I have done 46000 km in the last two years. When given a choice between tar or gravel I will take the gravel every time. I am the branch manager for World of Accessories in Tygervalley. My Real name is Hanno Prinsloo
